The best CS:GO player ever barely played CS2 competitively

Is s1mple done with CS2? Superstar reveals his favorite game nowadays

The Ukrainian is playing more Dota 2 than CS2 these days.

Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev hasn't played CS2 competitively since his brief stint with Falcons near the end of 2024. Additionally, the 27-year-old said in a video produced by Artur "ZLOY" Nerchuk, an Ukrainian content creator, that he's currently playing more Dota 2.

"I watch Counter-Strike, I love it and play it, but now, I play more Dota 2 than CS2," s1mple told ZLOY. The two also joked about s1mple migrating to Dota 2 and teaming up with famous players such as Bogdan "Iceberg" Vasylenko and Myroslav "Mira" Kolpakov, who are also Ukrainians.

"Each of them can teach me something so that I gain some experience at least, that's why we practice everyday," s1mple said, laughing.

As s1mple doesn't stream his Dota 2 games on Twich and his Steam profile is set to private, it's impossible to see how many hours he spent in Valve's MOBA recently. But given that he's still playing CS2 on FACEIT quite regularly — fourteen matches between March 13th to 17th — we can presume that he's playing Dota 2 almost every day.

s1mple is dearly missed by many Counter-Strike fans, having won HLTV's Best Player of the Year award in 2018, 2021, and 2022 while he was competing for Natus Vincere. He's still under contract with the organization, but as time passes, fans doubt that he'll come back to the professional scene.
