ZywOo on his rivalry with s1mple: 'I think the scene misses it'

While the CS:GO scene had about a dozen interesting rivalries throughout the game cycle, the rivalry between Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyljev and Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut dominated the storylines in the final years of CS:GO. After all, they took turns as the best player in the world from 2018 to 2023.

But, with s1mple staying on the sidelines, ZywOo have found new rivals in the form of Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov and Danil "donk" Kryshkovets for the title of best CS2 player in the world.

Even though this trio lightened up the servers in 2024, ZywOo thinks the scene misses his rivalry with s1mple.

"I wouldn't say I miss it, but I think the scene does," ZywOo said in an interview with bo3.gg. "He brought so much to the game. For me, though, nothing has changed. donk and m0NESY are now the rivals, but my mindset remains the same."

During s1mple's absence, ZywOo was named the third-best player in the world in 2024 while m0NESY and donk finished second and first, respectively.
