"WHAT ARE YOU DOING!" SPUNJ rages at "inexcusable" performance from ultimate
Liquid's debut in the main stage of IEM Katowice 2025 did not go to plan as the team suffered a disappointing reverse sweep loss to The MongolZ, sending the team down to the lower bracket and on the verge of elimination from the premier Polish LAN. While teams win and lose together, much of the blame for Liquid's loss to The MongolZ has been rightfully placed on Polish AWPer Roland "ultimate" Tomkowiak as the 21 year old had one of his career-worst performances against the Mongolian squad today.
The player's lackluster play and poor decision making was so bad that it made veteran caster and former pro Chad "SPUNJ" Burchill "rage" live on broadcast, exploding at ultimate for an "inexcusable" misplay on Mirage's opening pistol round which ultimately cost Liquid the round.
SPUNJ, who is known to wear his heart on his sleeve, was quick to point out the misplay, shouting "What are you doing!" while pointing out how it looked after such a poor performance on Nuke.
The misplay was so bad in fact that SPUNJ ended up stepping away from the desk for round two, leaving Alex "Machine" Richardson to cast the next round on his own:
While it was clear that SPUNJ and Machine were both extremely frustrated by the play from Liquid, SPUNJ is also a showman par excellence, with the design to step away potentially serving a two-fold purpose of letting him calm down while also creating a spectacle to enhance the broadcast.
Based on the reactions to SPUNJ's rage and exit fromthe desk on Twitch and social media, it will undoubtedly be a memorable moment from the event.
