What to expect from Liquid v. The MongolZ
After a bit of a sluggish start to the season, Liquid was gifted some regional matchups during the IEM Katowice Play-In, putting on their best performances to lock in a spot in the main event.
Liquid looked at their best against Complexity and Wildcard, and now have drawn one of the breakout teams from 2024, The MongolZ. Can Liquid catch their perhaps rusty opponents off guard?
The vision is there for Liquid
After consecutive losses to HEROIC, the best version of Liquid emerged against NA opponents. Liquid was in control all four maps against Complexity and Wildcard, and absolutely eviscerated the latter on Anubis.
Guy "NertZ" Iluz continues to shine, but the rest of the roster is beginning to step up. Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken, Roland "ultimate" Tomkowiak, and Keith "NAF" Markovic all contributed in major ways.
The sleeping MongolZ awaken
Fresh from rest after a trophy-laden 2024 and a playoff berth at the Perfect World Shanghai Major, The MongolZ will take on Liquid in their first match of 2025.
The trio of Azbayar "Senzu" Munkhbold, Usukhbayar "910" Banzragch, Garidmagnai "bLitz" Byambasuren will be the ones to watch. These three were the key contributors during the team's impressive 2024 run.

Decider is Inferno
This is a tough one to decide between. Liquid has played very well in their past two series, but against weaker competition. However, The Mongolz haven't played since their loss to MOUZ in the Major playoffs. Liquid can pull off the win, so long as they avoid their second half struggles that plagued them against HEROIC.
