Editorial: Dust2.us isn't going anywhere and neither am I
To say the past month has been a tumultuous time for Dust2.us would be something of an understatement. Due to financial factors outside of the control of our small team, Dust2.us had to say goodbye to Editor in Chief, Ryan Friend, while the future of the rest of the team and the site has loomed large ever since.
I won't lie and say this has not been a difficult time for me and my team as we have had to operate under the new normal of doing more with less while weighing our options for the future. However, one thing that has really inspired me to stay the course during these uncertain times has been the love and support we have received from the NA community these past few weeks.
With that in mind, and after productive conversations with Christen Sandersen, the Head of Dust2, about our shared love of this website we have built over the past seven years, I am extremely excited to say I have reupped and accepted the Senior Writer position heading into 2025 and will be at the helm of our efforts to create a fantastic product next year.
To be completely transparent, this is something that has come together after much discussions behind the scenes, but understand that I have always firmly wanted to stay with Dust2.us as my home and the home of NA CS. Our original EIC, Joe "tolkienfanatic" Cardali, gave me my start in esports under Dust2.us and since then I have been entranced by the mission statement of helping raise the profile of the NA scene and to provide quality coverage for the region.
In 2025, you will see a number of changes coming to the site as unfortunately my friends and coworkers Gonçalo "GoncOak" Carvalho and Daniel "Scoobster" Khurgin will be parting ways after collective years of fantastic work with Dust2.us. Personally, I was so humbled to work with every single one of them and everyone who has come through Dust2.us in the past six years I have had the privilege to work with.
With that in mind, as previously announced, Dust2.us will be looking for three new junior writers who will work under me heading into 2025. I really encourage anyone who is looking to get their start in esports and esports journalism to apply to this role. People like tolkienfanatic and Danish "Nohte" Allana helped teach me the trade and I would love to work with a new team and help repay that favor.
As previously said, as a Junior Writer you can expect to work approximately 25 to 30 hours per month while developing your skills alongside your fellow writers.
If you are interested in applying, I really encourage you to do so here. If you do join the team, now that the job we have ahead of us won't be easy as we work to position our site for a bright future in 2025 and beyond, but then again, when have things ever been easy for our region?
After all, it took FaZe Clan blowing a 15-11 lead in the 2018 Boston Major to Cloud9 giving NA its first and only Major in CS:GO history! But we did it anyway and hopefully we can do it here at Dust2.us in 2025.
