They meet again... and again and again

What to expect from Complexity v. Liquid

Is it the battle for NA's #1 spot?

Counter-Strike doesn't stop in the Americas region, as IEM Rio starts today, just a few hours after the end of ESL Challenger Atlanta. Among other solid matchups, Liquid and Complexity will face off in the opening round of Group A, in a Bo1 series. This map played between both teams will be the ninth just this year, with Liquid having won six out of eight so far.

The eternal NA #2

As long as Liquid have a North American majority or at least a regional parity, just like the current roster iteration, Complexity have always taken the #2 spot in NA's standings. The levels of investment are different, sure, but Complexity have been losing ground to Liquid, as even M80 have been catching up.

There's no better chance for Complexity to reclaim some ground back as a Bo1 series, with only Bo3s going forward in the event.

  • The squad had time to rest and prepare

  • Can COL survive the Vertigo ban?

  • Complexity looking for vengeance are hard to stop

Rising Liquid

Ever since adding Justin "jks" Savage and Roland "ultimate" Tomkowiak, Liquid have been getting back to the top of the CS world. As far as qualifiers go, Liquid have been winning them comfortably, but when it comes to the events themselves, the squad hasn't been able to win any silverware, despite coming close at times.

In just almost three months of roster, Liquid have already found some success and shown good signs, is it time for some trophies?

  • Some time has passed, has the chemistry improved?

  • ultimate had a bad last event, expect a bounce-back

  • Can Liquid continue beating Complexity?

Previous Matchups

As previously mentioned, Complexity and Liquid have faced off plenty of times this year, during the PGL Copenhagen Major, IEM Dallas, IEM Cologne, ESL Pro League Season 20, and now IEM Rio. Liquid have got three series wins, and Complexity only one. In terms of maps, Complexity have two map wins, while Liquid have six.
