Maniac reveals he began therapy: "I have hopes to become a better person"

The disgraced host claims he has been working on himself.

Counter-Strike host and analyst Mathieu "Maniac" Quiquerez has spoken for the first time in a month since allegations broke that he had acted inappropriately towards several women at esports afterparties since 2022.

Quiquerez commented in an HLTV forum post that he had recently begun therapy, a promise that he made in an open letter sent to various media outlets and on his own social media in the days after reporting from Dust2.us about his conduct.

Maniac responded to a thread asking about his whearabouts

"I'm currently working on myself to be honest. I've started therapy and I have hopes to become a better person on the other side of this," said the host in a forum post. "It is a long road and I need both patience and determination. I keep my eyes on the game as it has been my life and passion for decades. For now that's all I can tell you."

The Counter-Strike community exploded on September 4th when freelance photographer Hannah Marie posted on X that the popular Swiss talent member had accosted her at a G2-sponsored afterparty following the BLAST Premier: Spring Finals. She alleged that over several hours, Quiquerez had groped, inappropriately touched, and grinded on her without consent.

Quiquerez issued a statement rejecting Marie's claims while acknowledging the potential for some miscommunication. Over the next 24 hours, more woman came forward through their own account or through a report by Dust2.us, which showed a consistent pattern of inappropriate behavior while attending esports afterparties.

The Swiss analyst issued a final statement on September 6th in which he acknowledged wrongdoing and pointed towards a troubled childhood and a dependency on alcohol. He has stated he will make a video appropriately apologizing in the near future for the harm that he has caused.
