Partynauts and Take Flyte eliminated; FA and Legacy survive
After Nouns and Wildcard secured qualification against NRG and BOSS, it was time for the elimination Bo3 series to start, as Party Astronauts faced FLUFFY AIMERS and Take Flyte took on Legacy.
While Legacy and FA grabbed the win and eliminated their opponents, they still will have to play at least one more Bo3 series, with the chance of playing an extra one for the 4th and final spot in the Americas RMR.
There had been an upset earlier on, albeit a technical upset (NRG were the higher seed against Nouns), FLUFFY AIMERS showed what a true upset really is by beating Party Astronauts 2-0 with two very comfortable maps. Ancient finished with a 13-3 scoreline, while Nuke ended with a 13-6 win for FA. With PA eliminated FA will now face the winner of the E-Xolos LAZER v. Mythic series.
The other series, Legacy v. Take Flyte, had some closer maps, unexpectedly. Take Flyte came into the Closed Qualifier as the lowest seeded team and things didn't get off to a great start as the squad had to forfeit their opening match, but bounced back with a 2-0 win over LAG. Things only got worse as they had to face #1 seed Legacy who were beaten by BOSS yesterday. The Brazilians took some time to warm up on Inferno but secured a 13-10 win. Map two was Anubis and went to overtime after a crazy 10-2 comeback from TF.
Take Flytre miraculously came back and even fought in double OT to ensure their victory on Anubis, but that momentum from the victory did not last long. Legacy were utterly dominant in their final map as they cruised to a 13-1 victory as they guaranteed themselves a spot in the final day of competition.
With this result, Legacy will face NRG as the lowest seed in Round 4, which means they will have to play the 4th/5th decider if they win against NRG.
