EliGE highlights FPS degradation in CS2

Better PCs, less FPS?

Counter-Strike 2 has been the subject of lots of scrutiny since it's introduction to the scene about a year ago with players constantly looking at the performance of the game relative to their PCs.

One of the scene's nerdiest players, Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski, is notorious for testing and figuring out how to get the most out of the game. The Refrag co-founder has been known to highlight all kinds of minute details within CS2 alongside his Complexity teammate Ricky "floppy" Kemery.

In his latest example, EliGE shows that there is even more FPS degradation in CS2 compared to IEM Sydney 2023 back in October 2023. During that event, EliGE claims that on "worse PCs" he was getting close to 600-700 frames per second.

On the comparably better computers at IEM Cologne 2024, nearly 10 months later, he was averaging 445 FPS according to the screenshot.

It's not known why, or how, CS2 has continued to lose performance over the past year. Valve continues to update the game and is making consistent updates towards the game.

Complexity are currently competing at IEM Cologne 2024 in the lower bracket where they will have to play Liquid in tomorrow's elimination match.
