Report: nitr0 & M80 fail to agree on CS return
There is one more team that Nick "nitr0" Cannella will not be joining in his return to North American Counter-Strike as he failed to agree to terms with M80 on a lateral move from their VALORANT division.
Liquid and Complexity are also not interested in hiring the IGL with Liquid still examining their options in the market and Complexity satisfied with the leadership of Johnny "JT" Theodosiou.
Sources tell Dust2.us that nitr0 and M80 were unable to come to an agreement for the IGL to step into the lineup as a replacement for the outgoing Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa. The two sides had talked and looked set to make the full switch, but for unknown reasons ultimately decided that it was not the right fit.
M80's move for nitr0 remained complicated in terms of the roles that each player would fill as they only just recently acquired Elias "s1n" Stein to be their new IGL in late March. It is unknown if the American would have taken over IGL duties or if he would have acted as a secondary caller to the German.
In the last few weeks, nitr0 has received multiple offers to come back to North America and is close to identifying his new home. NRG has emerged as one of the more attractive options for the player. Dust2.us understands that the organization has already reached out to the rifler.
If nitr0 does end up choosing NRG as his ultimate landing spot, it would reunite him with AWPer Josh "oSee" Ohm and coach Damian "daps" Steele who were with him on Liquid in 2022 and 2023.
Dust2.us has reached out to nitr0 and M80 for comment on the situation, but have not heard back by the time of publication.
