ESL adjust qualifier dates to avoid Americas RMR qualifier conflict
ESL have announced scheduling changes to the qualifiers for the upcoming ESL Challenger Atlanta and IEM Rio LAN events. According to ESL the changes were made in response to scheduling conflicts with other events in the second half of 2024, with the Perfect World Shanghai Major Americas RMR North American Qualifier being the likely culprit, as its dates were only announced on June 2nd.
The Perfect World Shanghai Major Americas RMR North American Qualifier is set to run from August 26th - 28th and is the sole qualifier for the Americas RMR, making it an all-important event for the NA scene.
Starting with IEM Rio 2024, the Brazilian LAN's NA Qualifier now starts on August 31st to avoid a conflict with the final day of Perfect World Shanghai Major Americas RMR North American Qualifier. Likewise, the ESL Challenger Atlanta North American Open Qualifier has been moved from August 26th - 27th to August 16th - 17th to steer clear of the Americas RMR qualifier while the Closed Qualifier will start the day after the qualifier on August 29th.
Overall, the qualifiers for the two events are now as follows:
-
IEM Rio 2024 Open Qualifier #1 — August 14th - August 15th
-
ESL Challenger Atlanta 2024 Open Qualifier — August 16th - August 17th
-
IEM Rio 2024 Open Qualifier #2 — August 18th - August 19th
-
ESL Challenger Atlanta 2024 Closed Qualifier — August 29th - August 30th
-
IEM Rio 2024 Closed Qualifier — August 31st - September 1st
