Legacy secure Thunderpick World Championships invite
Brazil's Legacy continues to have a good run in North America as they can claim a berth in the next season of the North America's ESL Challenger League and now a berth in October's Thunderpick World Championships.
The Brazilians will be joining M80 in the European event after vibe, Mythic, and Nouns as they made their way to the Grand Final of the online qualifier.
Legacy faced Party Astronauts last night as the two sides vied for the one remaining spot from the region. It was constantly a tight matchup throughout the best-of-three as it would eventually need overtime on the deciding map for Legacy to qualify.
The match began on Inferno where the Brazilians jumped out to a solid 8-4 lead thanks to an impress T-side. What was more impressive was Party Astronauts making their own comeback on the T-side of the Brazilians pick to close the gap, however Legacy still came away with a 13-11 win to take the lead.
Party Astronauts immediately responded with their own vicious win on Anubis as the Americans utterly dominated with their opening T-side by winning 10 rounds. From there it was an easy clean up as the Brazilians went down 13-4 with the final map Mirage coming up next.
Mirage was a fraught battle between the two, as Party Astronauts took a slight lead into the second half where they would be on the defense. Legacy found a way to battle back thanks to Eduardo "dumau" Wolkmer as they forced an overtime where the Brazilians eventually claimed a 16-13 victory.
