Playing EliGE's roles held Cxzi back at the beginning of his stint with COL

Cxzi: "I feel a lot more comfortable now"

Cxzi talked about how the role changes helped him to have more impact in recent games.

After a lackluster start to the season, Complexity have turned things around over the past month, to the point that they nearly qualified for the BLAST.tv Austin Major directly. The team were enjoying a 13-0 win streak, which included a blowout win against Falcons, until a close loss to G2 at PGL Bucharest 2025 yesterday. Complexity still have a fairly decent chance of making playoffs for the first time this year.

One of the new additions for 2025, Danny "Cxzi" Strzelczyk, has been playing a vital role in Complexity's recovery now that he's more settled in the team. Jan "DOMiNA7HOR" Lindberg, a reporter from our sister website Dust2.dk, caught up with Cxzi after their match versus G2 and talked about his recent form, what Complexity have done to turn things around, and his expectations for the North American Major Regional Qualifier (MRQ).

Cxzi, you've made it into the big leagues after over six years of grinding NA CS and going through some turmoils. How does it feel to be playing in tier-one CS for Complexity?

It feels great, it's been something that I've wanted for a while. I had some issues early on but I'm glad that I finally got the chance to prove myself now on Complexity.

We saw you really struggle at the start of the year after making your tier-one debut. More recently your form has really improved in the Qatar qualifier and now here in PGL Bucharest. What do you think contributed to your slow individual start to the year, and what has helped you to start turning it around?

I think part of it was nerves and also just trying to find out what works for me. I feel a lot more comfortable now, whereas at the start I was kind of just playing EliGE's spots. It wasn't working for me now that I'm battling the top teams in the world, so it was just tough.

So we just shifted some roles around and it's working a lot better now.

Although the start wasn't good, you guys managed to stop the rot after a period of practice back in NA and demolished everyone in the PGL Bucharest and YaLLa Compass qualifiers. What led to this 13-0 winstreak that you just had?

I think we just had the time we needed and the role changes also played a big part in that. In the beginning, we weren't having as much impact on the T-side, which was the main issue, as our CT-sides have been decent for a while now.

The role switch was the main problem and now that we fixed that, everything is going way better.

Now talking a bit about the MRQ, the end goal for Complexity, just like many other teams, is to qualify for the Majors. You almost qualified to it directly, but will have to play the MRQ. How do you rate Complexity's chances of making the Major and what would that mean for you, given that you have never played in one?

Obviously, we're clear favorites in the MRQ, especially with our performances lately and here at PGL Bucharest. So, the expectation is to qualify for the Major.

One thing that I've been doing is taking these matches like we're the underdogs every time, even when I think that we might be better than the other team. I'm treating us like we're the underdogs because as soon as we start to dominate these guys, that's when it gets scary.

So, that's how I'm going to approach the MRQ, and obviously, it would mean a lot to make it through the MRQ and get a sticker in the game.

Complexity has two more chances to reach playoffs at PGL Bucharest, but after the event the focus will entirely be on performing well at the North American MRQ.
