G2 end Complexity's win streak to qualify for PGL Bucharest 2025 playoffs
G2 have handed Complexity their first defeat in over a month this Tuesday, April 8th, to secure their spot in the PGL Bucharest 2025 playoffs. They met in the 2-0 pool of the Swiss system group stage and G2 managed to squeeze out a victory much thanks to Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov's impact.
G2 enjoyed a flying start in the series as they completely decimated Complexity's CT side on Dust2 to win the first half by 10-2. The North Americans, however, clawed their way back into the game with an excellent T-side of their own and forced overtime.
m0NESY came through in overtime, grabbing eight kills across four rounds, and helped G2 avoid adding another historic choke to their collection.
After that tense game, the series moved to Anubis, a map that essentially became Complexity's home turf in the past 30 days. And the North Americans grabbed their eighth consecutive victory on it off the back of a dominant T-side in the second half.
Michael "Grim" Wince and Danny "Cxzi" Strzelczyk, the standout players for Complexity in this event, combined for 60 kills.
Complexity had a promising start on Ancient as they won the first five rounds on the CT side. However, G2 salvaged their first half thanks to a couple of 1v2 clutches won by m0NESY, and carried the momentum to their CT side, winning 12 rounds in a row.
When it was nearly over, Complexity adjusted their game plan on the attacking side and almost forced another overtime just like on Dust2. It wasn't meant to be though, and G2 won by 13-10.
This is the first loss to Complexity after winning 13 series since March 5th. The North Americans are still in a good position to qualify for the PGL Bucharest 2025 playoffs as they only need to win one out of two possible best-of-threes.
