90% of Brazilian teams qualify after starting 2-1
Nobody expected this. Brazil, on day three of the PGL Copenhagen Major, still has four teams in contention to qualify for the Elimination Stage. It's a run that has left commentators, personalities, and fans flummoxed as the Americas region is punching above their weight for what feels like the first time in a very long time.
Imperial and paiN are now 2-1 in the competition, while Legacy are staying alive at 1-2, and FURIA are bouncing back after a poor first day. With all four teams still in the competition, Dust2 Brasil looked at the history of Brazilian squads and how they fared at Majors when starting 2-1.
The result? Well, before 2022, every Brazilian team that started 2-1 qualified. During the BLAST.tv Paris Major paiN had also started 2-1, but they ultimately failed to qualify for the Legends Stage and were eliminated from the Major following losses to Apeks and Monte.
