Extra Salt unofficially cease operations

Extra Salt have deleted their social media and gone completely dormant.

As first spotted by Rory Latham earlier today, Extra Salt have seemingly closed up shop for good, deleting their X account, Instagram account, and leaving a simple "Thank you" message on their website. The unfortunate news comes after Extra Salt teased a potential return in early October 2023, posting a now-deleted X post with an AI image of three players around a table.

Since then, the organization has been on radio silence, leading to speculation that the hinted at return had derailed. The Extra Salt organization, owned by Daniel van Flymen and David Alson, first entered CS:GO in late 2021 with the signing of ex-Cloud9, supporting the squad until early 2022 when the core was acquired by Complexity.

Since then, outside of the aforementioned post in October and reported talks with Damian "daps" Steele's Orgless roster in 2022, Extra Salt has been dead in the water. Unfortunately, this seems to be the definitive end for the brand at the very least as Extra Salt seemingly abandoned their Wordmark all the way back in April 2023, while the logo is still trademarked for now.

Dust2.us attempted to reach out to Extra Salt's owners for comment on the status of the organization, however no reply was received by the time of publication. Unfortunately, while there are still some questions up in the air, it appears that Extra Salt is another NA organization that has folded in the difficult economic climate of the esports winter.

As of Tuesday morning, January 30th, Extra Salt Co-Founder Daniel van Flymen responded to Dust2.us and explained that there were concerns about about potential liability to keep the brand out in the public, instead of closing it down.
