Liquid cruise past GamerLegion
After a tough LAN debut win against Spirit yesterday in the opening match of BLAST Premier Sping Groups, Liquid showed up a lot more comfortable on day two against GamerLegion. With a confident 2-0 victory over GL, Liquid have now secured at least a play-in spot. If Liquid win the group on Saturday, they will advance straight to the BLAST Premier Spring Final in London.
The Canadian duo of Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken and Keith "NAF" Markovic completely dismantled the opposition and were the highlight players from the American squad, although everyone had a good series.
The match started on GamerLegion's pick of Overpass and although the European team would secure both pistol rounds, Liquid would win the map comfortably 13-6. The team led by Casper "cadiaN" Møller enjoyed a seven round win streak during the first half on the CT-side which netted them an 8-4 score after being down 3-1. The T-side saw GL only win two rounds, including the pistol, as Liquid put on a strong offense.
Liquid's pick, Mirage, was a much more balanced map, as the first half ended in a 6-6 tie before Liquid went to the CT-side. The back-and-forth nature of the first half didn't allow Liquid to get an economic gap but still managed to get six rounds in the less favorable T-side. The American side lost yet another pistol round but came back and flawlessly closed the series with a 13-7 Mirage win.
