chigen steps down from Shimmer; madss steps up

Personal reasons will be keeping the player away from the servers.

Just over 20 days after announcing that Casey "chigen" Glerb would complete the Shimmer roster, the player has left the squad due to health problems. Filling the void left by chigen will be Marissa "madss" Dasta, who recently was cut from FlyQuest RED.

chigen only played one HLTV-recorded match for Shimmer, but was instrumental in getting the team through the early stages of the Americas RMR Open Qualifiers and the IEM Chengdu Open Qualifiers. Shimmer's General Manager, Scott Park, speaking with Dust2.us, reiterated the team's full support towards chigen.

While chigen is leaving, madss will be joining the Shimmer squad and providing them with an experienced core of players. At the moment, the roster is comprised of five players with international LAN experience, further elevating Shimmer as a heavy favorite to reach the ESL Impact Season 5 LAN Finals.

Despite all the trouble Shimmer and the ESL Impact scene has experienced in recent months, it's possible that the team led by Lucy "empathy" Verkaik will be on top of the North American Impact scene. FlyQuest RED, who are yet to announce their two new signings, remain at the top of the totem pole in the North American scene. The only current issue shimmer has is Phoebe "Phoebe" Winter's ping while playing from Australia, but Shimmer hopes to fix that before ESL Impact Season 5 starts.

The new Shimmer lineup is:

  • United States Abigail "abby" Deters

  • United States Lucy "empathy" Verkaik

  • United States Lynn "Lx" Clarke

  • Australia Phoebe "Phoebe" Winter

  • United States Marissa "madss" Dasta

  • Canada Scott "ParkS" Park (Interim Coach)
