LAG promoted to ECL S47
A few days ago, LAG played ex-Bad News Bears for a fifth-place decider match for ECL S46 relegation. While this isn't standard practice, as is evidenced by the nearly month-long break between this match and the previous one of the tournaments, it was required to fill in all spots for ESL Challenger League North America Season 47.
Evil Geniuses disbanding and players going their separate ways opened a vacancy in ECL S47. Rocket filled this vacancy. Then, ex-Eros White also dissolved, meaning yet another ECL slot was up for grabs.
This slot joined the prize pool of the relegation tournament, requiring a fifth-place decider match between LAG and ex-Bad News Bears, who placed 5-6th in the relegation tournament.
Both teams dominantly won their map picks with the mutually agreed upon decider Anubis going the distance and then some. The two teams were inseparable after 24, requiring us to go to 6 more rounds, just like the good old days of MR30.
LAG closed out the map in the first overtime, securing the team's appearance at ECL S47 for the first time. As a fun tidbit, LAG will technically be the only team in NA ECL S47 with a European core as Luka "based" S. is a Serbian-American dual national.
