Complexity & Liquid first BLAST opponents revealed
Today, BLAST announced the opening match-ups for the first BLAST Premier event of the year, Spring Groups. Complexity will face NAVI on January 22nd, precisely the team they last beat in a BLAST event, back in Fall Final's quarterfinals.
BLAST Premier Spring Groups marks the return to tier-one events for the Counter-Strike community after a short break for the holidays.
Complexity vs. NAVI won't be the first game of the whole tournament, though. G2 vs. NIP, also in Group C with the North American squad, will open the competition at 06:00AM, with Complexity and NAVI taking the stage at 08:30AM.
After Group C finishes its opening matches, it will be time for Group A to play. Tuesday, January 23rd, is reserved for the final matches of each group, with the winners of the first series meeting each other, and the losers doing the same. The formula repeats the following couple of days for Group B and D, as Liquid will take on Spirit, and FaZe will face GamerLegion in Group B, while Group D features Cloud 9 vs. Heroic, and Virtus.pro vs. BIG.
Friday will see the lower bracket final of each group be played out. This is where the winners of the lower bracket match will meet the losers of the upper bracket match. Saturday is reserved for the grand final of each group, with the winner advancing to the Spring Final while the loser will go to a play-in stage, played on Sunday. The play-in stage will feature the second-place teams from each group, with the runner-up of Group A facing Group D's, and Group B's facing Group C's. The winners will also advance to the Spring Finals, while the losers will join the third and fourth-placed teams in the Spring Showdown.
