Chaos, New England Whalers, oNe, Ze Pug Godz advance through FunSpark ULTI 2020 Qualifier upper bracket
Day one of the FunSpark ULTI North American qualifier has come to a close, seeing Chaos, New England Whalers, oNe, and Ze Pug Godz advance in the upper bracket while Cloud9, Positive Vibes Only, and Yeah now find themselves in the lower bracket.
Yesterday's matches started off with an unfortunate forfeit as Third Impact had to drop out of the tournament due to being unable to find a fifth. The team were initially set to use former teammate Wesley "viz" Harris however, he elected to play with Positive Vibes Only in place of Will "dazzLe" Loafman, who himself recently jumped over to Ze Pug Godz.
In the first match that actually transpired, Chaos made quick work of Positive Vibes Only on Inferno with a 16-4 victory, with Jonathan "Jonji" Carey leading the way for his team with a 1.91 rating.

The next best of one between Cloud9 and oNe resulted in the sole upset of the day as the Brazilians claimed a close 16-12 win on Nuke. Cloud9 began their CT-side in strong form, winning the opening pistol round and climbing up to 4-1. However, the match's momentum began to shift in the favor of oNe following a deagle ace from Pedro "Maluk3" Campos, after which oNe claimed four rounds to trail 6-9 at the half.
After switching sides, oNe mounted a near impenetrable defense on their CT-side, only allowing Cloud9 three more rounds before taking the map. Maluk3 was oNe's standout player, with the 30-year old veteran ending Nuke with a 1.44 rating.

The final map of day one saw the new-look Ze Pug Godz face off against Yeah on Train. The opening half was narrowly clinched by Yeah 8-7 thanks to a strong performance from Rodrigo "RCF" Figueiredo. Once the two teams switched sides, a continued strong performance from RCF was not enough to hold Ze Pug Godz at bay, as Edgar "MarKE" Maldonado led the way for his squad to win their CT-side 9-2, and secure Train 16-10.
