Complexity fall short in close battle against G2
In a game that started off looking way too easy for America's team, Complexity ended up falling just short of the win over G2, seeing the Europeans head to the quarterfinals while Complexity have been relegated to start playoffs from the Round of 12.
For all intents and purposes, the series began with Complexity looking like they'd take a shocking 2-0 victory over the IEM Cologne 2023 champions. Starting on Anubis, Complexity started strong as they won their CT-side 9-6 before absolutely dominating on their T-side to break down G2's defenses and take the map 16-8.
Moving into G2's pick of Inferno, the Europeans would win their T-side pistol before Complexity put on a great CT-side showing as they won seven rounds in a row before losing momentum and only narrowly winning the half 8-7. COL likely regretted letting off the gas in the first half as the second half proved to be their undoing in the series. Despite Complexity finding match point first at 15-10, G2 managed to grind back and force overtime before taking Inferno 19-16 and forcing Complexity onto Ancient.
After a fantastic showing for Complexity on Anubis and a strong performance on Inferno, Ancient proved to be NA's undoing as G2 utterly smashed Complexity, winning their CT-side 12-3 without much difficulty before four out of five rounds in the second half to claim a clean 16-4 win.
With this loss, Complexity are still headed to playoffs but they will likely be cursing themselves for not rallying on Inferno to take a 2-0 win over one of the world's top teams.
