Liquid heads to Last Chance Final
Americans awoke this morning to find that Liquid was battling Lynn Vision in an Anubis game that was way too close for comfort. Snatching victory in an overtime win that could have gone the other way got the heart pumping. If that wasn't enough, seeing Liquid go down 10-5 on the first half of Ancient and mount what felt like an insurmountable comeback surely put fans over the edge. Despite it being a 2-0 series score, it could have gone to three maps, or Liquid could have easily lose 0-2, a far cry from their first matchup earlier in the competition.
Anubis was tough for Liquid as they quickly went down 4-8 on their CT-side, only to close the small gap to three at the half. With the North American - European mix on the back foot, they needed a strong T-side if they hoped to win the first map. While their T-side on Anubis was not as strong as two days ago, it was sufficient to force an overtime where they would pull out a nailbiting 19-17 win.
Heading to Ancient, there was hope once again that Liquid could close it out. But once again, Liquid fell behind in the first half. A 10-5 deficit after a first-half T-side was not as dangerous as it could be, with Liquid having been successful with their CT-side time and time again. And today, it was that time again as they came out of the gate with strength, deterring all forms of attacks from Lynn Vision to win the map 16-13 and series 2-0.
Liquid now will play Eternal Fire later today for a shot at the ESL Pro League playoffs.
