Nouns survive in CCT Online Finals 2
For those who don't know, Nouns are currently on a European expedition, first in Cologne after winning the ESEA Cash Cup Circuit, giving them a free boot camp prior to one of ESL's marquee events. After that boot camp, they made their way to Serbia to play in the CCT Online Finals 2, for which they obtained a slot through the North American Circuit, along with MIBR and Sojoga.
After an initial non-competitive series against Apeks, Nouns were knocked down to the lower bracket, where they met up with fellow "North American" team Sojoga, who were also initially kicked in the rear end by European opposition. The two teams fought for their tournament lives, as after the two eliminations, it would be homeward bound for either team. Careful deliberations in the vetoes led to the three battleground being decided: Anubis, Ancient, and Overpass.
Nouns' map pick of Anubis started off hot for the Americans taking three before Sojoga answered back with three of their own. From then out though, Sojoga were in the rearview mirror. Five in a row but the game firmly in Bobby "stamina" Eitrem's hands, and ten T-sided rounds at the half gave Nouns plenty to work with in the second half. Trading round back and forth eventually led to the conclusion of a Nouns victory at 16-11, with Carson "nosraC" O'Reilly heading up the server with a phenomenal 1.46 rating.
Nouns had a promising start on Sojoga's pick of Ancient with the pistol, but losing the conversion spelled doom for Nouns as the Brazilians went on a spree that culminated with 11 rounds at the half. Despite winning the second pistol as well, it was too little too late as Sojoga finished off the map 16-7.
Onto the decider, Nouns initially held the advantage with their CT pistol round and conversions but again a late spree from Sojoga gave them a 9-6 advantage at the half. stamina then called an absolutely flawless T-side, pulling out ten rounds in a row to finish off the series 2-1.
With that, Sojoga are eliminated from the CCT Online Finals 2, while Nouns survive for another round. Their next opponent will be the loser of Bad News Eagles and MIBR who play later tomorrow.
