EG debut with refrezh spoiled WITHOUTWARNING
Evil Geniuses' debut with their fresh Danish addition, Ismail "refrezh" Ali, has been spoiled in the second round of the ESL Challenger Katowice qualifier, with a loss to WITHOUTWARNING, the ESEA Advanced superteam consisting of Gabe "Spongey" Greiner, Saad "Pluto" Siraj, David "J0LZ" Jolin, Kevin "consti" Yi, and Andrew "Tender" Cote. It was definitely not the debut the Seattle-based organization were looking for despite the fact that refrezh was playing from Europe with 115 ping.
After taking down ESEA Open squad Unjustified Academy in a quick 16-7 fashion, Evil Geniuses where faced by still resistance from the onset against WITHOUTWARNING. After dropping their T-side pistol and the following three rounds before getting on the board. Unfortunately, after this EG struggled to find any footing as David "J0LZ" Jolin helped carry WITHOUTWARNING to an 11-4 half.
After switching sides, WITHOUTWARNING won their T-side pistol and the following three rounds before EG finally answered back, claiming the next four rounds — their only consecutive run of rounds on Overpass. This effort was too little too late however as WITHOUTWARNING denied EG double digits, winning the next two rounds to win Overpass 16-8.
Evil Geniuses will now need to lick their wounds and regroup as they miss out on another LAN opportunity.
