BLAST denies FaZe from using k0nfig

Early this morning, BLAST informed Dust2.us that Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke would not be allowed to join FaZe as a substitute for the upcoming BLAST Premier Spring Groups. The information rattled the entire FaZe squad who have insinuated on Twitter that BLAST knew of their intention to use k0nfig and that it was previously approved by the tournament organizer.

In a statement, BLAST told Dust2.us that "this request to use k0nfig as an emergency substitution for the Spring Groups has been denied as he is registered on another team's roster for this event". Furthermore, the TO has allowed FaZe to find another substitute stating that "the request for an emergency substitution has been accepted as they only have four players currently available in Denmark".

In subsequent tweets sent out by Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken, he implies that BLAST had conditionally approved k0nfig's appearance with FaZe and that the team had known about this for five days.

After at least one team raised questions to BLAST about the move, as reported yesterday, the TO appears to have backtracked on its decision and decided not to allow k0nfig to be fielded as he was registered by another team. The rest of the squad didn't take it very well and went to Twitter to express their opinions. Robin "ropz" Kool expressed his frustration and claimed that Heroic had no idea that k0nfig was listed as their substitute for the event.

k0nfig was going to be Håvard "rain" Nygaard substitute, as the Norweigan is expecting to be a father and has left the team to be with his family. Robert "RobbaN" Dahlström, FaZe's coach has also left the squad for the event due to personal reasons.

Now FaZe is left with the task of finding a new stand-in less than 24 hours before the start of the team's group stage, which will see the European squad face off against Complexity, at 06:00AM.
