Fnatic cuts leave American stranded
In the wee hours of Friday morning, fnatic announced their intention to cut the academy project only 18 months after reviving it. Swedish-American member Adam "WolfY" Andersson will no longer represent the organization and is free to explore his options in the market. WolfY joined the organization on September 3rd, however the formal agreement was never announced publicly.
"It is what is it" said WolfY. "I am not too worried, I'm looking to compete again now that I am a free agent" he told Dust2.us in an exclusive comment. The player has bounced around from North America to Europe, building an impressive resume with various stints on NA rosters to Europe development squads like ECSTATIC.
The 24-year-old attended various events as part of the fnatic rising squad including WePlay Academy League 6, ESL Challenger League S42 & S43, and the Mist Games Heroes of Tomorrow Fall 2022 where the squad finished 2nd.
Over the last six months, WolfY has posted a respectable 1.11 HLTV Rating, a 1.08 Impact Rating, and a 72.0% KAST against all opponents. During his time on the fnatic rising squad, he only posted a negative K/D and sub 1.00 HLTV Rating twice - which were in the qualifiers for ESL Challenger Rotterdam.
"I would love to play on a North American team if I could," Wolfy had continued. "I think I can bring a lot, but I will probably end up playing in Europe since there are not so many teams over in NA".
While WolfY is best known for his time on ECSTATIC, before returning to Sweden, the American citizen played in North America extensively. In addition, WolfY was also targeted by Complexity earlier in the year before eventually choosing Norwegian AWPer Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli.
