EG announce AWPer departure
Following an earlier report by Dust2us, Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov and Evil Geniuses announced today that they are splitting after three years. The Bulgarian joined the original iteration of the EG CSGO squad in 2017 as part of NRG. Throughout his five years as part of NRG and Evil Geniuses, he has been a core part of NA CSGO.
This move marks a pivotal change in EG’s lineup as CeRq was a premier AWPer prior to the pandemic, even reaching HLTV's Top 20 Player list at #18 in 2019. With COVID impacting the world, CeRqs form dropped significantly and became a shadow of his prior self. While there was hope he could return to the top in 2022 with the arrival of LANs, he was unable to reach his prior highs.
EG managed to post some promising results towards the backend of 2022 after the addition of Sanzhar "neaLaN" Iskhakov in the IGL role and young Canadian Jadan "HexT" Postma. However, CeRq's individual struggles continued posting a 0.90 rating at the IEM Rio Challengers stage and just a 0.89 rating at ESL Pro League Season 16, despite the team winning two matches at the event.
Following a report from Dexerto that Evil Geniuses would not be fielding him in their BLAST Premier Spring 2023 Groups lineup, it was also revealed that Jerric "Wiz" Jiang, Wesley "Viz" Harris, and Jeorge "jeorgesnorts" Endicott would be joining the squad to Copenhagen. At this current time, it is unknown who will be sliding in to fill CeRq’s spot in the event.
With CeRq's removal Evil Genuises main squad is currently:
-
Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte
-
Timothy "autimatic" Ta
-
Sanjar "neaLan" İshakov
-
Jadan "HexT" Postma
-
Daniel "vorborg" Vorborg (Coach)
