Report: EG set to replace CeRq
Multiple sources have informed Dust2.us that Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov will no longer be a part of Evil Geniuses' main roster and is likely to part ways with the organization completely. Evil Geniuses are making arguably one of the biggest moves since their acquisition of the former NRG CS:GO lineup as the squad look to move on from the Bulgarian AWPer.
BLAST informed teams today that they were able to submit rosters for the just-announced BLAST Premier Spring Groups that will start later this month. In the roster submitted for the event by Evil Geniuses, CeRq was left off of the lineup.
It has been a tough few years for CeRq, who peaked in 2019 when he was named the 18th best player in the world in HLTV's year-end player rankings, as he averaged a strong 1.13 rating throughout the year. His consistent play was a major factor in NRG's top rankings throughout the year and an eventual #1 team ranking for Evil Geniuses after taking home a win at ESL One New York 2019.
Since then, his form has faltered, causing fans to wonder what happened to the once-dominant AWPer. In 2021, CeRq posted a 0.99 rating, with a 0.89 impact rating and 70.1% KAST. 2022 saw CeRq put up similar numbers, as he averaged another 0.99 rating, a 0.91 impact rating, and a 69.3% KAST. This pales in comparison to his 2019 days where he showed up with the aforementioned 1.13 rating, along with a 1.12 impact rating and a 72.8% KAST.
At this time, it is unknown who will be replacing CeRq on the starting roster for BLAST however, as Dexerto reports that Evil Geniuses have included Wesley "viz" Harris, Jerric "wiz" Jiang, and Jeorge "jeorgesnorts" Endicott alongside Timothy "autimatic" Ta, Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte, Jadan "HexT" Postma, and Sanjar "neaLan" İshakov in their submitted roster, leaving a number of options available for the organization.
Dust2.us have reached out to a representative from Evil Geniuses for official comment on the story, however, we have not heard back by the time of publication.
For BLAST, Evil Geniuses will be sending the following team:
-
Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte
-
Timothy "autimatic" Ta
-
Sanjar "neaLan" İshakov
-
Jadan "HexT" Postma
-
Jerric "wiz" Jiang
-
Wesley "viz" Harris
-
Jeorge "jeorgesnorts" Endicott
-
Daniel "vorborg" Vorborg (Coach)
Evil Geniuses still have some time to sort out their new lineup, as the squad's BLAST debut is not set to start until January 19th.
