Evil Geniuses are looking to move on from CeRq after two difficult years for the AWPer

Report: EG set to replace CeRq

One of the last-standing inaugural members of the Evil Geniuses main roster is seemingly on the way out.

Multiple sources have informed Dust2.us that Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov will no longer be a part of Evil Geniuses' main roster and is likely to part ways with the organization completely. Evil Geniuses are making arguably one of the biggest moves since their acquisition of the former NRG CS:GO lineup as the squad look to move on from the Bulgarian AWPer.

BLAST informed teams today that they were able to submit rosters for the just-announced BLAST Premier Spring Groups that will start later this month. In the roster submitted for the event by Evil Geniuses, CeRq was left off of the lineup.

It has been a tough few years for CeRq, who peaked in 2019 when he was named the 18th best player in the world in HLTV's year-end player rankings, as he averaged a strong 1.13 rating throughout the year. His consistent play was a major factor in NRG's top rankings throughout the year and an eventual #1 team ranking for Evil Geniuses after taking home a win at ESL One New York 2019.

Since then, his form has faltered, causing fans to wonder what happened to the once-dominant AWPer. In 2021, CeRq posted a 0.99 rating, with a 0.89 impact rating and 70.1% KAST. 2022 saw CeRq put up similar numbers, as he averaged another 0.99 rating, a 0.91 impact rating, and a 69.3% KAST. This pales in comparison to his 2019 days where he showed up with the aforementioned 1.13 rating, along with a 1.12 impact rating and a 72.8% KAST.

At this time, it is unknown who will be replacing CeRq on the starting roster for BLAST however, as Dexerto reports that Evil Geniuses have included Wesley "viz" Harris, Jerric "wiz" Jiang, and Jeorge "jeorgesnorts" Endicott alongside Timothy "autimatic" Ta, Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte, Jadan "HexT" Postma, and Sanjar "neaLan" İshakov in their submitted roster, leaving a number of options available for the organization.

Dust2.us have reached out to a representative from Evil Geniuses for official comment on the story, however, we have not heard back by the time of publication.

For BLAST, Evil Geniuses will be sending the following team:

  • United States Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte

  • United States Timothy "autimatic" Ta

  • Sanjar "neaLan" İshakov

  • Canada Jadan "HexT" Postma

  • United States Jerric "wiz" Jiang

  • United States Wesley "viz" Harris

  • United States Jeorge "jeorgesnorts" Endicott

  • Denmark Daniel "vorborg" Vorborg (Coach)

Evil Geniuses still have some time to sort out their new lineup, as the squad's BLAST debut is not set to start until January 19th.

Dust2 Birthday cake!
I wonder at what point they shrink down to 2 rosters worth of players, maybe 11. I don't think the 3 rosters is really working at this point

Agreed. I feel like they should just have a main team and a development roster. Rn, it feels super confused because neither secondary roster is truly a development roster, and they're having to split potential lan experiences

yea, it feels like EG white are stuck in limbo, they only get to play like a tournament every 3 months, they participated in that CCT league but those teams were pretty shit except for like teamone and i think paiN, they definitely need to be in EU at least if they want to get better and stay productive

Tbh, idk if it's even worth keeping EG white. They could probably merge into a super strong development roster. If they want to keep EG white, they should just throw all of the older guys onto that team. I don't think rush, stanis, and pwnalone have too much left to develop. You could probably even argue for ben1337 on that roster, and then rotate through viz, hext, and jeorge as the 5th slot.

This is huge. I'm excited to see how they use jeorge and viz too. Also... does this mean jeorge was officially signed?
