nicx on defeating EliGE: "It means a lot to me"
Complexity have kept their good form and reached playoffs for the first time in 2025 at PGL Bucharest after winning a much-anticipated game against FaZe, the new home of Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski.
Jan "DOMiNA7HOR" Lindberg, a reporter from our sister website Dust2.dk, caught up with Nick "nicx" Lee after Complexity defeated FaZe to discuss what this victory over EliGE means for him and the team, the expectations for the playoffs, and more.
Congratulations, nicx. It's the first time Complexity has made playoffs this year. How happy are you with this achievement and with the squad's recent performances?
It feels great. We didn't start the year in the best form, basically bombed out of all the tournaments we played, so it feels nice to turn things around at Bucharest now. It feels good to be winning.
And, the universe wanted it to be after a victory against FaZe and EliGE. How does it feel to take down EliGE in the first match after he and the organization parted ways?
Obviously, this was going to be an entertaining match for a lot of people to watch just because it was Complexity v. EliGE. But for me, he's a player that I grew up watching a lot and respecting a lot, so being here and not only playing against him but also beating him, means a lot to me.
I know it means a lot to Cxzi and the org as well. This was only the first game of hopefully many to come.
Cxzi mentioned yesterday that the team got better after some role swaps. Can you share more details about these role changes and how they positively impacted every player on the team?
On the T-side of some maps, Cxzi and I swapped some roles and then Cxzi and JT also swapped some roles. We're just getting JT into more active roles on the T-side and obviously that paid off. Things are looking really nice right now as these swaps help us paint a better picture in mid-round situations and JT can also call when he's dead.
What are your expectations for the playoffs?
I'm hoping we're able to keep it up. We already played FaZe, who are a team that we'd normally face in playoffs, so I think we're able to keep up with any of the other teams here right now. I guess the only thing that really changes is potentially the nerves from being in the playoffs, but also at the same time, it's a studio event with no crowd. I think things won't change a lot, and we'll be good if we keep preparing and keep putting in time.
And what about now, will you tag Mauisnake on X to get some beers?
[laughs] Oh, that's for Cxzi. He'll be getting his beers, I promise.
Editor's note: It seems that Cxzi and Mauisnake are already onto it as they posted a picture on X holding two six-packs.
