EG adlib their way over Nouns
Evil Geniuses and Nouns faced off this morning on Mirage, where both teams were meeting for the first time. Nouns are coming out a disappointing Fragadelphia, but successful bootcamp where the squad was able to gain invaluable European experience. Meanwhile, EG are feeling good following their positive showing at ESL Pro League where they came away with dominant wins over Eternal Fire and Movistar Riders.
Both teams looking for something to prove, with Nouns technically high ranked in the seeding despite being arguably the weaker team, matched up with EG taking the CT side to begin the match. The contest didn't even look like much of a contest at all, however. EG won the pistol, won each successive gun round, and then just literally steamrolled their way to a 9-0 lead. Nouns looked threatening at times, but it wasn't until Round 9 that the young Americans looked like they could pose a threat.
Nouns were only able to get one round in the half as they headed into their defense at a 1-14 deficit. With the sides switched, Nouns were able to successfully win their CT-pistol round to bring some momentum their way and would win the following gun rounds to actually start rolling on the scoreboard. Nouns would impressively win six rounds on their CT-side to bring the match closer to 15-7, however they would lose the following round and be forced into the 0-1 bracket.
EG and Nouns will look to the remainder of the matches finishes to find out who they will play later today.
