Lazarus and Peeker's Advantage headline teams through to second day of Americas Minor qualifier
Day one of the first Americas Minor Open Qualifier has come to a close, with the 97 teams that entered now reduced to sixteen.
Starting from the top of the bracket, ESL Pro League team Lazarus did not let either team they faced take them into double digits. Next up in the round of 16 are Big Frames, who bested Just Swing and Nick "zeptic" Kaoud.
Continuing on, Advanced team Sadbots crushed Top0 16-9 to claim their spot in the top sixteen, utilizing Variance player Erick "Xeppaa" Bach in place of Ethan "reckMONSTER" Serrano. fulfill, a mix-team featuring former Zone member Nathan "leaf" Orf destroyed inqy 16-3 to continue their run in the qualifier.
Lowkey narrowly made top sixteen, winning in a 19-17 overtime scare against a mix-team led by Roy "Strong Legs" Ahad. Peeker's Advantage unveiled their new lineup to good effect, running into little trouble on the way through the qualifier. Tomorrow, they will be facing off against lolizzz, a mix-team notably featuring Brenden "stellar" McGrath and Robert "robby" Brown.
Royal were able to carve a path to top sixteen, though using a noticeably different squad including Donovan "zNf" Froid and Tyler "tweiss" Weiss. Advanced squad Good Game PR joined Royal by besting a mix-team featuring Addison "zecK" Gorzeck and Polar Ace coach London "welly" Purdy.
The next top 16 matchup will be an all-Brazilian bout as oNe are set to take on New England Whalers who are using Marcos "tacitus" Castilho in place of Yan "yepz" Pedretti, due to the latter's visa issues. Finally, tomorrow New Identity will be taking on Onyx, a relatively unknown squad whose most notable player is Carter "TBECarter" Richardson.
