ESL Pro League Finals groups chosen
With the ESL Pro League Season Six Finals coming up in Odense, Denmark, at the start of December, it's time for the groups to be announced. This time, a new system was in place to form the groups the teams shall play in.
The full system is explained in a post from ESL, but it essentially allows the teams themselves to choose who the other group play against. Due to G2 Esports being the reigning champions, it was left to the champions of the European Division, fnatic, to pick the first groupmates of the leading North American team, OpTic. With the following teams then picking the remainder of the opposing group, it left the groups as follows:
Group Yellow | Group Red |
---|---|
Fnatic | OpTic |
FaZe | SK |
Astralis | North |
Liquid | Ninjas in Pyjamas |
Hellraisers | Misfits |
Luminosity | NRG |
The finals of the $1,000,000 event kick off in Odense on the 5th December, concluding on the 10th. G2 Esports won't be present, so there's no defending champion this time around. It also gives a chance for NiP, FaZe Clan and SK Gaming to add another crown to their Intel Grand Slam totals, as teams race to claim the $1,000,000 prize.
