SHOOWTiME and the rest of Imperial will have a chance to qualify for the WESG 2018 Grand Finals

Imperial qualify for WESG 2018 Brazil Regional Finals over INTZ

Unable to field their complete roster, INTZ found themselves shut out by Imperial in the grand finals.

Gustavo "SHOOWTiME" Gonçalves's Imperial have become the second team to qualify for the WESG 2018 Brazil Regional Finals after defeating INTZ 2-0 (16-7 Mirage, 16-4 Dust2) in the grand finals. They will face off against Sharks for a single spot at the WESG 2018 Grand Finals.

Having won their opening match yesterday, INTZ seemed in good sorts to have a chance at qualifying for the regional finals, however, a tweet from the team's coach Alessandro "apoka" Marcucci this morning put a damper on their chances with the information that Alexandre "xand" Zizi would be unable to play after he was taken to the hospital following the team's match yesterday. The team chose to field Wild's Lucas "destiny" Bullo in xand's stead, with their first match seeing them take on W7M in the semifinals.

Despite fielding a stand-in, INTZ managed a decisive 2-0 victory over W7M (16-10 Cache, 16-4 Train). A 3-0 start on the CT side of Cache gave INTZ the lead early on, but W7M were able to put themselves on the board by taking five rounds straight to pull ahead. INTZ battled back for a single round, but quickly found themselves reset by W7M, who went on to take another two rounds for an 8-4 lead. Once their economy stabilized, INTZ rallied back for the final three rounds of the half to trail by a single round.

Once they swapped over to their own T side, the match was a whole different ball game for INTZ. With another pistol round victory in hand, Vito "kNgV-" Giuseppe powered his team to a 16-10 finish, granting W7M just two CT rounds as he put up 120 ADR on the map.

W7M were unable to keep up with INTZ's CT defense on Train, finding just two rounds on their T side in the first half of the map. Although they managed two more rounds in the second half with a pistol round win, their hopes were quickly crushed as INTZ closed out the series 2-0 with a 16-4 map win.

Imperial had a far more difficult time on the opposite side of the bracket in their semifinal bout against oNe, managing to just scrape through 2-1 (9-16 Inferno, 16-14 Mirage, 16-11 Train).

Fielding Vinicius "vsm" Moreira in place of their Argentinian Nicolas "NikoM" Miozzi, oNe got off to a 4-0 start on Inferno before Imperial put themselves on the board, managing four retakes in a row to even the score at 4-4. oNe refused to cave however, and fought back for control of the economy to take six rounds in a row, with Imperial sneaking through one final round for a 10-5 scoreline at the half.

The second half pistol round also went the way of oNe, allowing the team to take an additional four rounds to immediately sit on match point at 15-5. Imperial made one last-ditch effort to take the map to overtime by securing four rounds, but oNe kept them at bay to take the first map 16-9 in their favor.

A similarly rocky start on Mirage saw Imperial grab the first two rounds of the match before oNe took three of their own to take the lead. Although Imperial managed to even the score, oNe once again pulled ahead by securing five rounds straight for an 8-3 lead. This time, Imperial battled back for the remaining rounds in the half, reducing the deficit to just a single round as they swapped onto their CT side.

Once again Imperial took the lead off the back of the second half pistol, but oNe pulled ahead with three rounds of their own for an 11-9 scoreline. Imperial's CT side came to life as they found five rounds straight, putting themselves in touching distance of match point at 14-11. They quickly found it after resetting oNe's economy after a round win, and narrowly managed to close out the map 16-14 with a retake in the final round.

Train was a completely different ball game for Imperial as they crushed oNe's defense, allowing their opponents just two rounds in the first half as they found 13 of their own. oNe attempted to repeat Imperial's T side performance as they picked up 7 of the first eight rounds in the second half, but Imperial managed to grab match point and close out the series 16-11 before things got too close for comfort.

INTZ were unable to continue their momentum from their semifinal match in the grand finals against Imperial. Although they managed to keep the score at a close 8-7 in the opening half of Mirage, their T side was nowhere to be found. Fielding a stand-in, INTZ were unable to crack through Imperial's defense, with SHOOWTiME and co. easing their way to the second map 16-7.

In similar fashion to Mirage, INTZ were unable to keep up with Imperial on Dust2. This time around they managed four rounds on their CT side, with two coming from an initial pistol round win, but they were unable to put up any T side rounds as Imperial brought the series to a swift finish with a 16-4 victory.
