cantwinalan clinch MDL playoffs spot; one remains for OGC or oNe
As the end of the MDL regular season nears, cantwinalan have come out as the seventh team to proceed to the MDL playoffs, after beating Vault on Overpass. The eighth and final playoffs spot will be taken either by Old Guys Club or oNe, with Blight ultimately being the deciding factor in the tossup.
If the Old Guys Club defeat Blight, then they will go 12-7, tying with oNe for eighth place. Due to the Old Guys Club's 16-11 head-to-head result against oNe, they would proceed to the playoffs over the Brazilians. However, if Blight defeat the Old Guys Club, oNe will move on to the playoffs uncontested.
Vision and Test Takers have been locked out of playoff contention, but both have been guaranteed spots in the next season of MDL, joining Infamous.
Two of the four relegation spots still remain undecided. While ex-Velocity and Excelerate have locked in a 7-12 record, Vault and Forty Six & 2 still have games left to play, with the latter team having three games remaining. Because of this peculiar situation, that leaves multiple possible outcomes, as both teams' results will tie into the final standings.
If Vault wins their match against Vision and Forty Six & 2 win all three of their matches, Forty Six & 2 will automatically avoid relegation alongside Excelerate, whose regulation round difference is superior to that of Vault and ex-Velocity's.
However, if Vault wins their match and Forty Six & 2 lose one of their matches today or tomorrow, Excelerate and Vault will stay in MDL due to head-to-head, forcing Forty Six & 2 and ex-Velocity into relegation.
If 46&2 go 3-0 while Vault loses their match to Vision, then Forty Six & 2 will remain in MDL alongside ex-Velocity, due to ex-Velocity having an advantage over Excelerate in the head-to-head matchup.
If 46&2 lose only one of their matches alongside Vault, then Excelerate will remain in MDL alongside Forty Six & 2 due to their superior round difference over ex-Velocity, who will play in relegation alongside Vault.
If Vault loses their match and Forty Six & 2 lose at least two of their matches today and tomorrow, the standings will remain the same, with ex-Velocity and Excelerate remaining in MDL, while Vault and 46&2 go to relegation.
There also remains the potential for a five-way tie if cantwinalan manage to win their final match, which would see them slot in between Singularity and Spacestation in the standings.
