Rickeh ineligible to compete with Splyce against Cloud9
Turmoil at Splyce continues, as league sources have confirmed to us that Ricardo "Rickeh" Mulholland, who was recently drafted onto Splyce to stand-in for the passport-less Zack "XotiC" Elshani, will be unable to compete for the team tonight in their final matches of the regular season against Cloud9.
The reasoning given for this is two-fold. The first is that Rickeh joined after the transfer deadline closed, meaning that if Splyce have to go to Leicester, UK for the relegation tournament he would be unable to join them. The second is that he would be unable to feature against Cloud9 (at least in the first map) tonight due to there not having been 48 hours passing since he was added to the roster.
Of course Splyce could be able to apply to WESA/ESL for an emergency transfer under the rulebook which would negate the issues in time for Relegation. According to a source within the Splyce camp this has already been granted to the team, assuming that they do indeed wind up needing to play Relegation.
A league representative would not confirm this to Dust2.us, as Splyce's appearance in Leicester is not yet confirmed.
In the short-term, all of this means that Splyce will likely play their last matches of the season with Zack "XotiC" Elshani — unless of course coach Zach "Eley" Stauffer wants to throw his hat into the ring.
As for the long-term, with Splyce reportedly backing away from CS:GO all together, the future of the team is unclear. Eley perhaps has put it most succinctly:
The final match day of ESL Pro League Season 7 will kick off later today at 8 PM EDT.
