Report: Splyce set to slither out of CS:GO
Splyce is set to pull out of CS:GO and drop their current roster, sources tell Dust2.us.
The move follows lackluster results from the team in Season 7 of ESL's Pro League, with the team sitting on the brink of Relegation to MDL. Two must-win matches remain for the squad if they have any hopes of pushing past relegation, but with Cloud9 as their opponents, their chances look grim.
The organization is most notably known for their LAN appearance at MLG's 2016 Major in Columbus, which their roster at the time were fortunate enough to qualify for after replacing The MongolZ in the Major Qualifier due to visa issues. They are set to leave the game after fielding a roster since August of 2015 (initially under the tag FolloweSports.com).
Splyce have also struggled in online qualifiers for premier events, resulting in only one major LAN appearance for the team over the past year at ROG Masters 2017 Grand Finals in Malaysia. They are the third well-known North American organization to pull out of CS:GO in the last six months, following the departure of Misfits and CLG.
As we reported earlier, the ESEA roster for the team has seen the addition of Ricardo "Rickeh" Mulholland, who will reportedly play in place of Zack "XotiC" Elshani in Leicester due to passport issues. It is unclear at this time if Rickeh will be a permanent addition to the squad following their departure from the organization, with the Australian tweeting out that he remains a free agent for now.
The contractual status of the players is unknown at this time. Splyce's current roster is made up of:
- Taylor "Drone" Johnson
- Kory "SEMPHIS" Friesen
- David "DAVEY" Stafford
- Stephen "reltuC" Cutler
- Ricardo "Rickeh" Mulholland (Stand-in)
- Zack "XotiC" Elshani (Inactive)
- Zachary "Eley" Stauffer (Coach)
- Taylor "Tailored" Broomall (Analyst)
Splyce has not responded to a request for comment at this time, although an announcement is expected in the following days.
