The trio of koosta, nahtE and reltuC will remain together

CLG part ways with male CS:GO teams

The move comes at the tail-end of a disappointing 2017 for the organization.

CLG have announced the shuttering of their two male CS:GO divisions — the professional team and the Academy team. Over the weekend, reports surfaced that in-game leader Pujan "FNS" Mehta was on his way out of the team, and that the Academy team would be released. The damage has now been doubled.

CLG's main roster was:

  • United States Stephen "reltuC" Cutler
  • United States Kenneth "koosta" Suen
  • United States Ethan "nahtE" Arnold
  • Australia Ricardo "Rickeh" Mulholland
  • Canada Pujan "FNS" Mehta
  • United States Steve "Ryu" Rattacasa (Coach)

CLG Academy's roster was:

  • Canada Jonathan "djay" Dallal
  • United States Tyler "Char" Wallace
  • United States Alex "aproto" Protopapas
  • United States Gage "infinite" Green
  • United States Zack "XotiC" Elshani
  • United States Corey "ruin" Hartog (Coach)

CLG were set to participate in the upcoming CyberPowerPC Extreme Gaming Series Winter event this weekend. They are currently signed up with reltuC, koosta, nahtE, and former Academy prospect XotiC. It is not known who their fifth for the tournament will be, but is known the team has also been trying out aproto and former Ghost member Ronnie "ryx" Bylicki.

The move means that CLG Red, the organization's female team, is now the only CS:GO squad that they harbor.

UPDATE: FNS has released an in-depth TwitLonger about his time with this iteration of the team, from when he re-joined the organization, to his decision to step down after poor results at the most recent Americas Minor and iBUYPOWER Masters:

Very sad to see the organization part ways with competitive counter-strike. So many good players were on the free market but I guess the organization owners didn't see their male division as profitable in any way.

Though, I am curious to see what org will take over CLG's place as fourth best NA team.

Dust2 Birthday cake!
I feel the same way, the organization has been through many things, it's going to be weird seeing CS without that in NA.

Hopefully there will be better things to come out of this, even if it was out of the blue.
