SK eliminated by mousesports in DreamHack Marseille groups
After a decisive 2-0 victory in the Group B decider match, mousesports has eliminated SK from DreamHack Marseille, and now advance to the playoffs.
The unexpectedly quick series began on Cache, SK's pick. After claiming the pistol round, SK began a downward spiral that would radiate throughout the majority of the series. mousesports went on a tear on their T-side that would last 13 consecutive rounds before the half. The Europeans found themselves on matchpoint after the first two rounds of the second half, but SK clung to life, going on an eight round streak before mousesports closed it out 16-10.
As the two began their final clash on Mirage, it was clear that mousesports had thoroughly prepared for their match-up against the Brazilians. With an airtight defense, they left little room for SK to breach any of their sites, leading to a half-time scoreline that mirrored Cache, 13-2. After mousesports attained matchpoint in the first three rounds of the second half, SK faced yet another monumental deficit they would be unable to surmount. In an even more crushing blow than the first map, mousesports closed out the map and series 16-6.
While the LAN premier of SK's new roster didn't go quite as planned, coach Ricardo "dead" Sinigaglia attributed their loss moreso to mousesports "reads" and assured fans that this result was part of the "process".
In just under two hours Liquid will face-off against Gambit in the Group D decider match to see if they will join fellow North Americans Cloud9 in the playoffs.
