Liquid unable to reach the stars, to face Gambit in decider
The winners match of Group D at DreamHack Masters Marseille has completed, with Astralis defeating Liquid and moving on to the playoffs (14-16 Mirage, 16-3 Overpass, 16-3 Cache).
The first half of Mirage was a fairly close affair, with Liquid edging out the Danes 8-7 on the CT side. In the second half, Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski stepped up immensely and secured 15 rounds for his team easily, despite losing the pistol round. Astralis mounted a valiant comeback, but on the final round Liquid won a 2v5 and the North Americans took Mirage 16-14.
Astralis weren't fazed by this defeat at all it seemed, as on map two, they racked up an 8-0 lead on their Terrorist side. They didn't slow down at all, as after a 12-3 half, the Danes closed out Overpass 16-3, with Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander's ridiculous 2.12 rating to thank.
The same story took place on Cache, with Astralis initially dominating their CT side. Nicolai "device" Reedtz took the stage this map, and ended the final round with a 1 on 2 clutch with 1 HP. This allowed Astralis to take map three 16-3 as well, and the series 2-1.
Liquid now move on to the decider match against Gambit, which will be played tomorrow at 1:00 PM EDT.
Also in action tomorrow will be SK and Renegades, who are taking on mousesports and fnatic, respectively.
