Liquid beat Virtus.pro; stay alive in New York
Virtus.pro had a good start to Inferno, picking up the first 5 rounds on the CT side. Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz quickly found a hole in the defense and powered Liquid to a 9-6 first half with Russel "Twistzz" van Dulken doing most of the heavy lifting. VP put up a bit of a fight in the second half, mainly Jarosław "pasha" Jarząbkowski and his AWP, but Liquid were too much and took map one.
The second map raised some eyebrows in that Liquid are not ones to play Nuke, almost ever. To many people's expectations, VP racked up a big Terrorist side powered by Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski and Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas. Nick "nitr0" Cannella put up a valiant effort, actually being the highest rated player for the map. The Poles ended up cleaning up Nuke pretty quickly 16-6.
The third and final map of the series was Mirage, and Liquid roared back with a vengeance. The North Americans took nine straight rounds to open up the map before Virtus.pro were able to get on the scoreboard, and finished their CT-side with an impressive 13-2 score. Both teams would accrue three rounds in the second half, which brought the final tally to 16-6, with Liquid the victors of both the map and the series.
Liquid will now go on to play Astralis in the Group B decider match, the winner of that tilt will proceed to the playoffs in the Barclays Arena tomorrow.
