Liquid over BIG for spot in Mykonos playoffs
BIG made a fatal error in the map veto selecting Train as their pick if the first half of the match was any indication. Liquid's aggression on T-side overwhelmed BIG as they had no answer to the firepower of Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz and Jonathan "EliGe" Jablonowski. The half ended with a 13-2 scoreline leaving little hope or chance for the Germans to catch a reprieve.
A glimmer of hope came in the form of winning the CT pistol round in favor of BIG and the buy round after, but that's when things turned south again. After winning the third round with a decisive triple kill form Nick "nitr0" Cannella, it was a simple clean-up in the first gun round of the second half to end the match 16-4 for Liquid.
The two next met on Mirage, Liquids map pick, where the Americans started strong with a 4-0 lead, taking all expected rounds after the pistol round. Once their economy stabalized BIG bunkered down on their CT-side defense and took seven consecutive rounds before Liquid responded, if only with their backs against the wall. Courtesy of a stellar 1v3 from Josh "jdm64" Marzano, the American squad ended the half with a reasonable 7-8 scoreline.
Things started off rough for Liquid as BIG claimed the first several rounds after winning the pistol round, but just as BIG had fallen short on their early CT-side and stabilized once they had money in the bank, so too did Liquid. BIG struggled to string together rounds and maintain an economy that supported the utility required to take bomb sites effectively leading to their ultimate downfall. After a gruelling back-and-forth affair, Liquid claimed the series 2-0.
