Six teams withdraw from YaLLa Compass Winter Contenders after Valve ruling
OG, ECSTATIC, FAVBET, GUN5, SINNERS, and Monte have all withdrawn from the YaLLa Compass Winter Contenders event, according to official match listings on HLTV and the event page on Liquipedia.
Earlier this month, the ranked status of the tournament was removed by Valve, after it was discovered that the invite-only event filtered out several eligible teams. HLTV reported yesterday that the invite system for YaLLa's tier one LANs later this year has been altered, removing the ability for teams to qualify for the April event by winning at the ongoing Winter tournament.
Monte explicitly noted the removed path from the Winter event to the LAN in April, as well as the dropped ranked status, as a reason for dropping out. Monte also criticized the lack of transparency and accountability in the current tier two scene.
Only 10 teams of the 16 team field remain at YaLLa Compass Winter. Metizport dropped out of the event before it began, due to "a lack of openness and accountability in their invitation process."
