Valve applies new change that hides pre-release CS2 updates
Valve has privated the developer pre-release folder of its update history changelog, effectively hiding the details of future Counter-Strike 2 updates.
The changes was noticed by CS2 influencer account @gabefollower on X, who frequently posts speculative content on future updates based on the files that appear in the pre-release folder. Apparently, this changes has affected other games other than CS2 as well.
Back in November 2024, according to SteamDB, Steam fully converted all the password-protected branches in the database to full private ones. Valve has been converting database branches across all its titles to private ones since then, and now the CS2 developer pre-release branch has gone private.
This change effectively serves as a blow to CS2 leaker and dataminer accounts, who will not be able to so easily access the contents of these folders.
