Renegades go 0-1; FaZe to playoffs at EL

FaZe took down Renegades, Na'Vi slipped by G2, and FaZe beat Na'Vi on day 1 of the ELEAGUE Premier.

Day one of Group A of the ELEAGUE Premier 2017 has finished, with FaZe advancing to the playoffs after beating Renegades and Na'Vi. G2 and Renegades will fight tomorrow in the elimination match, and the winner will face Na'Vi in the decider later that day.

The first match between FaZe and Renegades took place on Mirage, one of the better maps for both teams.  The Australians took the pistol and got to the 3-0 start, but lost the first gun round. FaZe put up a strong CT side, taking a three round lead,  but Karlo "USTILO" Pivac helped keep his team in the game and secured his team a 7-8 half. FaZe then kicked off their T side with their own 3-0 start, and Nikola "NiKo" Kovač's proceeded to easily finish off the game to win 16-9.

Aferwards, the French superteam G2 took on Na'Vi on Inferno, a map G2 has shown to be proficient on in recent times. G2 held control of the T side of the map due to some good entry play by Dan "apEX" Madesclaire, and racked up a 9-6 first half. It seems that Danylo "Zeus" Teslenko had Richard "shox" Papillon completely figured out, as he read the French in-game leader like a book. Aleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev went on to play lights out and Na'Vi won all but one round in the second half to finish off the map 16-10.

The winners match between Na'Vi and FaZe which aired on TBS took place on Inferno. Na'Vi had already picked up a win on it earlier, and it has been a generally good map for FaZe, so the expectation would be a close game. FaZe got off to a very strong start, acquiring a 7-0 lead on the CT side. Zeus and s1mple didn't give up then however, as Na'Vi fought back for a 6-9 first half. The second half consisted of the trio of Håvard "rain" Nygaard, Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács, and Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer running circles around the Na'Vi players, leading FaZe to a comfortable 16-6 victory.
