JonY BoY and friends will not have nothing for long, but at what cost?

Misfits set to sign No Tenemos Nada

With the contracts of 60% of their players having expired, the Misfits organization is ready to move on.

Dust2.us has learned that the Misfits organization is set to sign the Argentinian/Mexican ESEA MDL team No Tenemos Nada, who most recently represented Gale Force. Dust2.us had earlier reported that Gale Force was valuing the player's contracts at $30,000.

The new Misfits roster would be as follows:

  • Jonathan "JonY BoY" Muñoz
  • Matías "tutehen" Canale
  • Guillermo "guishorro" Areco
  • Mexico Edgar "MarkE" Jimenez
  • Tomás "tomi" Guardia

Misfits made waves in late 2017 after they took second place at the Americas Minor, thereby securing passage to the ELEAGUE Major Boston Main Qualifier. With their HLTV.org ranking peaking at #13 in 2017, the Sean "seang@res" Gares-led side got the event off to a good start with a win over FlipSid3, but were ultimately unable to pass to the next stage.

Immediately upon the team's run ending, it was revealed that the contracts of seang@res, Shahzeb "ShahZaM" Khan and Hunter "SicK" Mims were expired. SicK wasted no time, and went to join forces with Rogue, leaving the fate of the squad even more uncertain.

Dust2.us has learned that the remaining quartet of players who represented Misfits last year would like to continue playing as a unit. That roster currently looks as follows:

  • United States Sean "seang@res" Gares
  • United States Shahzeb "ShahZaM" Khan
  • François "AmaNEk" Delaunay
  • David "devoduvek" Dobrosavljevic

Complicating matters is the issue of the organization's ESL Pro League spot, for which the license is held by the organization, not the players. As happened previously with Winterfox, an EPL organization is within their rights to completely replace their roster between seasons per the following rule:

During the Transfer Window, there are no limits on the number of Players any Team may Transfer to or from its squad (subject at all times to the other provisions of these Transfer Regulations).

However, there are provisions for the league itself to block such a move if it is deemed that it would impact the overall state of competition:

Notwithstanding anything else contained herein or elsewhere, the Executive Board may reject any Transfer Request, in which case the Player or Players at issue may not be Transferred to another Team if:

- the competitive balance of the League would otherwise be seriously disturbed which shall be at the sole discretion of the Executive Board; provided that the rationale for the Executive Board’s decision shall be furnished to the effected parties promptly upon request therefore.

With only two weeks left before the start of ESL Pro League Season 7, and ESEA MDL Season 27 already underway, it is hard to say how this will play out, and which team will ultimately wind up playing in which league. Stay tuned to Dust2.us for updates as this situation evolves.

When reached for comment, Misfits stated that they have made no signings on the off-season at his point.

Don't get me wrong, I love the ex-GFE guys, but the French/US team was definitely a much better investment. I'm kind of lost on why they would do this.

The only way to see if the team will work is letting them play with NA ping :P

Makes me think maybe they're getting a paycheck for the Frenchies and the US players to go elsewhere. But even then who would be the fifth for them since SicK is in Rogue now?
