Three more teams advance to PGL Astana closed qualifier after player ban

A controversial end, but three more teams head to the closed qualifier.

The third NA open qualifier for PGL Astana 2025 concluded on March 22nd, sending three more teams through to the closed qualifier.

But after the quarterfinals were completed, only one more match took place instead of the expected four. The Ukrainian core roster of CSG0DS was disqualified after player sabLo was banned for violating Esportal's terms of use. On sabLo's Esportal profile, it says the user "is permanently banned for violating terms of service." A "terms of use" ban is permanent, but can be appealed after two years.

As a result of sabLo's ban, CSG0DS were disqualified from the semifinal match, forfeiting the win to Hooligangsters. CSG0DS also had to forfeit the third place to regain. Fisher College chose to forfeit the grand final against Hooligangsters, given that both teams had already qualified for the closed qualifier.

The list of teams that qualified for the PGL Astana NA Closed Qualifier thus far currently of:

Open Qualifier #1
Mexico MarcaRegistrada
seoul

Open Qualifier #2
United States Straight2Killin
Northern Cossacks
United States Party Astronauts

Open Qualifier #3
Hooligangsters
Fisher College
United States regain

Despite the forfeit-ridden finish, three more teams have moved on to the stacked closed qualifier for PGL Astana: Hooligangsters, Fisher College, and regain. The fourth and final NA open qualifier begins today and ends tomorrow.
