EliGE and FaZe suffer embarassing loss to Virtus.pro at BLAST Open Lisbon
A close series between FaZe and Virtus.pro ended in disaster for Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski and company. After both map one and two went to overtime, FaZe were blasted off the server on Dust 2.
EliGE and Finn "karrigan" Andersen were both quiet to start map one on Anubis, but the veteran IGL had a bigger second half CT-side that helped force overtime. Despite a quiet game for most of Anubis though, ElIGE delivered a crucial round win in overtime, winning a 1v2 retake that halted VP's momentum.
Ancient went to overtime as well, but it was VP who managed to claim the map, thanks to a 30 kill performance from Timur "FL4MUS" Maryev. EliGE and David "frozen" Čerňanský struggled to comfortably take mid control, and it cost FaZe their map pick.
But after two closes maps, Virtus.pro closed out the series in dominant fashion on Dust2. VP put on a T-side masterclass, stringing together round after round and winning every clutch to close out the first half with a 12-0 lead. The map and series was brought to an abrupt end when FaZe ignored FL4MUS hiding in ramp, allowing VP to claim CT pistol round and complete the 13-0.

As noted by Conner "Scrawny" Girvan on commentary, the last time FaZe were 13-0'd was in 2019, to an Astralis roster in the midst of a dynasty. Fittingly, FaZe will play the newest iteration of the Astralis roster in their next match in the lower bracket.
