JT: "We need wins or we're going to start cratering in the rankings"
Complexity is on the verge of elimination at PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025 following losses to The MongolZ and Virtus.pro. In the latter game, while the team had decent CT-side rounds, the team's T-sides were really lacking, which is something IGL Johnny "JT" Theodosiou acknowledged as a significant issue for the team in Romania.
Following the team's loss to Virtus.pro, Dust2.dk's Jan "DOMiNA7HOR" Lindberg grabbed JT for some quick comments on the loss to VP, the team's stale T-sides, expectations for the event, and the team's efforts to bring rookie duo Danny "cxzi" Strzelczyk and Nick "nicx" Lee up to a pro level.
What do you think have been the team's main issues at Cluj-Napoca against The MongolZ and Virtus.pro?
Hard to say honestly. Our T-sides so far have been pretty stale and we haven't been able to get creative to figure out ways to win rounds. We're not getting as many rounds on T-side as I would like.
At IEM Katowice we were doing pretty well on T-side and CT-side and now it's the opposite so I'm not really sure. I have to go and review and see what's going on.
In both matches the team struggled on their T-side on Dust2, what's going on with your T-side on that map?
Difficult to say really what's going on, but initial thoughts are we're lacking creativity, we're not getting the duels we should be winning, and communication in general especially when we're executing on sites has been lackluster.
We need to figure out how to get the communication and the gameplay the same as it is in practice because practice has been going pretty well. In matches it has not been going as well as I had hoped.
What are your expectations for this event, and how crucial is it for Complexity to do well here for the Valve Rankings (VRS)?
We're trying not to think too much about expectations, but it's really crucial because we haven't had any LAN wins or wins at all this year on HLTV. Our points are going down and we need points to make the Major and future tournaments.
The next game is going to be a big one for us because we need wins or we're going to start cratering in the rankings.
How are cxzi and nicx dealing with the feedback from the team and the transition to competing at a tier-one level?
The team is working really hard and we're putting in a lot of hours in. We're reviewing everyday and we're just speaking about it, and figuring out how to solve our issues. Right now it's not working but we're improving really fast and I'm hoping that the hard work and the hours we're putting in are going to pay off.
In terms of mentality, it has at least been fun to play the games, we're losing but besides that I'm just hoping for the best in the next ones.
Complexity will fight for survival tomorrow against Imperial Valkyries at 09:00AM.
