phzy: "We can match up against all of the teams here"
Wildcard have fallen down to the 1-1 pool at PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025 after a 2-0 loss to The MongolZ earlier today despite the team starting the series with a strong 9-3 T-side on Inferno. Ultimately the team was less convincing on their CT-side, allowing The MongolZ to sneak back into the map and secure Inferno 19-16 before going on to win Ancient 13-10.
Following the team's loss to The MongolZ, Dust2.dk's Jan "DOMiNA7HOR" Lindberg grabbed Wildcard's Love "phzy" Smidebrant for some quick comments on the loss to The MongolZ, phzy's individual form, and the team's expectations for PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025.
You had a big lead on Inferno against The MongolZ, what do you think went wrong there to let it slip away?
I'm not sure to be honest. We will have to re-watch the demo when we get back to the hotel. We didn't play our best, we started strong on Inferno sure, but we can all play much better as a team.
We doubted our calls and our anti-strats and we didn't commit fully in our calls on Inferno on the CT-side.
You played well against The MongolZ today and MIBR yesterday. How do you feel about your individual form in Wildcard?
I'm feeling good right now, we're all been feeling good recently in practice. We've all been showing up and we're all on a good individual level and everyone can step up and win a map for the team. We have great firepower and it's fun to play.
What are your expectations for this tournament now that you're in the 1-1 pool?
We're trying to make it as far as possible, obviously playoffs would be great. There's some good teams here, but we can match up against all of them. As you can see today we lack a bit of experience, the best teams in the world wouldn't lose that Inferno game.
Every game is good for us experience wise and we can win against anyone, but we can also lose versus anyone.
Wildcard will be back in action tomorrow as the team takes on Virtus.pro at 06:00AM.
